Techniques to be followed for Windows recovery

Observations have revealed that data can get damaged due to a number of susceptible situations that might affect the data in a direct or indirect manner. As a result of this the data might be lost and there can also be a corruption.

There are many different things that might cause to the corruption and loss of data that are stored in a computer. And this includes such problems like shutdown of the system in an uncertain way, failure of power, corruption of the software, attacks of the computer system with virus and also due to corruption of the OS.

  • “Partition Not Found” or “Missing File System” error”
  • “Not found any Active Partition in hard drive.”
  • “The disk in drive… is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?”

There are some important things that are required for windows recovery and this includes:

  • The technician who is doing windows server recovery should know the password of Microsoft Windows administrator;
  • The person who is doing this kind of server recovery should bear this in mind that it requires them to have adequate experience of using MS-DOS;
  • The technician should remember that they can have access to root directory and the Microsoft Windows or Winnt directory. And this would mean that they would not be able to open any other directory other than these;
  • It should be noted by the technicians who are working on windows recovery that they only have the right to read from the floppy disk drive, CD-ROM drive, or other disc drive. And this would simply mean that technicians would not be able to copy information for the purpose of backup, from the hard disk drive to another drive. But at the same time the technicians have the right to copy information from the CD-ROM or floppy disk drive to the hard disk drive.

Process in which windows recovery is done

To do any kind of windows recovery a Microsoft Windows CD is required. This CD should be placed into the computer and necessary booting should be done. Thereafter the technicians should choose the current version of the Microsoft Windows that the user is using while the Microsoft Windows Setup screen is displayed after the insertion of the Microsoft Windows CD into the system.

For server data recovery, the users who are using Windows 2000 version should choose different options like

  • Windows 2000 installation can be repaired by pressing R;
  • Windows 2000 installation can be repaired by using the recovery console by pressing C.

For windows recovery, the users who are using Windows XP version should choose a different option like

  • Windows XP installation using recovery console can be successfully repaired by pressing R.

After this one should follow the following steps for windows recovery

  • Select the windows installation that one wish to log on to;
  • Press 1 if someone wants to edit the primary installation of Windows
  • Enter the administrator password.

As one completes the above mentioned steps they would be at a MS-DOS prompt. The technicians should keep this in mind that they would come across several other commands that are not actually found in MS-DOS mode. Following these prompts windows recovery can be done in a successful manner.
